The communities of Fort Myers Beach, Sanibel, and Fort Myers, Florida, were devastated by Hurricane Ian in 2022 and they continue to work toward recovery and resiliency
Opportunity
With funding from FEMA and under contract with EPA’s Office of Community Revitalization, HW is leading a Technical Assistance Team to work with community stakeholders to develop preliminary designs for resiliency projects to fit into ongoing recovery efforts.
Solution
The HW team facilitated multi-day workshops in each community to foster collaboration and identify, select, and develop concepts for project ideas. A range of concepts for each community include community-wide mobility and connectivity improvements, open space and park revitalization, downtown revitalization and streetscapes, and waterfront improvements.
