Non-Profits

Helping Non-profit Organizations Achieve their Goals.

Non-profit, mission driven organizations have an approach to addressing today’s environmental and social challenges that is both flexible and focused. On one hand, their missions keep these organizations focused on either specific issues like housing, or locations, like an individual watershed or nature preserve.

On the other hand, these organizations need to adapt quickly to shifting funding sources and grant opportunities that can change their project-related efforts quickly. These organizations need to be both nimble and resourceful.

As a mission-driven consulting firm, HW understands both the need to be focused on a set of principles while adapting to shifting resources from year to year and this is shown in our successful partnerships with non-profit organizations.

Non-profit sectors

Our firm has helped non-profit organizations achieve their planning and project goals for over 30 years across a diverse range of interests. Examples of different sectors where we have deep experience include:

Watershed Protection – HW has worked with over a dozen watershed organizations over several decades to implement planning and design projects related to ecosystem restoration, green stormwater infrastructure, dam removal, and land use planning.

Housing – HW works with organizations like the Planning Office of Urban Affairs, the Housing Assistance Corporation, Preservation of Affordable Housing, NeighborWorks Blackstone Valley, and others to advance the development of affordable housing that strengthens communities.

Land Stewardship – HW partners with groups like The Nature Conservancy, MassAudubon, Norman Bird Sanctuary, [insert], and others to build capacity and make physical improvements to preserved areas that require care over time in order to thrive.
