The Safe Drinking Water Act Section 1433 requires community water systems serving more than 3,300 people to develop or update risk and resilience assessments and emergency response plans every five years.
Horlsey Witten Group, working under HSG, has assisted with this work for multiple water utilities in Orange County, California since 2019. HW develops and leads utility workshops based on the American Water Works Association's J100 standard to perform the assessments, drawing on the utilities' own knowledge base and internal subject matter experts to ensure robust and compliant assessments.
With assessments completed, HW works with designated utility managers to update response plans based on the recent assessments. This includes staff interviews as needed to capture both the details and steps of response actions to the multiple threats faced by the water utilities.
