Surveying is an integral part of the civil engineering and landscape architectural site design process. HW offers land surveying as an in-house service for our municipal, state, private and non-profit clients in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. In-house professional surveying services augment the quality of engineering and wetlands projects and create a more streamlined process for completing planning, design, and construction projects. Design engineers, landscape architects, wetland biologists and other staff are often involved with field surveys so early familiarity with site conditions results in a better, more efficient approach.
• Development of existing conditions plans which incorporate topographical surveying, property line surveying and utility surveying for use in site design and construction.
• Field locating of wetlands and resource area delineations for permitting, planning and site design
• Compile mapping for permitting, planning, and feasibility studies
• Property-line surveys for subdivisions, easement plans, lease plans and condominium plans
• Mass DOT right of ways surveys for lot takings and layouts
• Construction surveys for layout of proposed structures, features, grading and new land areas
• As-built drawings for municipal approvals and compliance. Building departments, Board of Health and Conservation Commissions
• Land Court surveys for lot creation and condominium registration
• ALTA surveys pre-construction and post construction for title insurance and lender underwriting
HW uses total stations and GPS RTK with state-of-the-art data collectors which capture field information quickly and accurately. Regardless of the land area or ground cover HW has the tools to get your land survey done efficiently to produce and deliver finished plans.
• For survey of smaller sites requiring grade detail, accurate wetland resource flag location, transects, utility mapping, and property line a 2-man crew with a standard total station is the best approach.
• For more open sites, HW utilizes a state-of-the-art robotic total station, allowing one crew member to efficiently capture the required data.
• For large land areas generally more than 15 acres, HW can offer photogrammetry services.
• For larger sites with dense vegetation lidar may be the best solution to your survey mapping needs.
• HW also uses a submeter handheld GPS unit for gathering preliminary site information and flagging wetlands. When projects are in the planning stage these handheld units can be a useful tool in determining feasibility, general locations and inventory.
